One of the largest reservoirs in Portugal is in the form of a huge lake, and only a 15 minute drive away, it is worth a visit for the picturesque sandy beaches which are ideal for swimming and boating. There are picnic and bbq areas and a cafe, not to mention fishing, hiking and a children’s play area to keep the whole family occupied. Elsewhere the Odivelas dam can be a refreshing trip on the hottest of days and a haven for birdwatchers in the winter season

On the whole Ferreira is a wonderfully unspoilt, truly Portuguese town, perfect for the whole family to spend many happy years

Situated in southern Portugal, Ferreira de Alentejo is 23km east of Beja and between Lisbon and Faro and just over an hour from the Algarve beaches


The town is popular with British tourists, however unlike actual resorts around this area; it hasn’t lost its Portuguese charm. The site itself is  located adjacent to and just minutes from Ferreira, which has a population of around 8000, and is only 15 minutes from the new airport in Beja
